The RS232 setup is the responsibility of the end user but we have some tips that will help you.

1. Purchase a USB-Serial (9-Pin) adapter. It must be compatible with the Windows version you are running. See Pic Below.

2. You will need a 9 pin male cable that goes from the computer to your machine. Plug the 9 pin cable into your new USB-RS232 adapter. This cable must be specially made for your Particular Machine. You will find the Pin Configuration in your Machine tool manuals.

3. Install the drivers for your new adapter, then restart your computer and plug in the adapter

4. Go to Windows "Device Manager" and check "Ports, COMM and LPT"

5.  You will see your new adapter there. Right-Click on it and select "Properties"

6. In the Properties, you will see the current Port Number. You will use this Port Number to configure your GibbsCAM connection to the machine

7. You will need the RS232 settings from your machine. Once you have them, configure the Comm port in the Windows hardware manager and save

8. Go to GibbsCAM, "File", "Preferences" and select "Com Setup".

9. Configure your GibbsCAM Com Port with the same settings you used in Windows

10. Plug the other end of your existing cable into your machine. You should now be able to test your connection.
